Cathcart Parish Council Chambers, 183 Prospecthill Road, 1907, Andrew Rennie Crawford & Veitch

Delicate carving on a symmetrical English Baroque front with central entrance dignified by lead-domed cupola. Plain interior now used as Mount Florida Clinic. A formal composition contrasting with the same firm's lively asymmetrical French Renaissance tenements at Parkhead Cross (see p. 00). The new Renfrewshire County Council had built a local office to deal with the Poor Law Relief and other duties of the former Parochial Board.

Taken from "Greater Glasgow: An Illustrated Architectural Guide", by Sam Small, 2008. Published by the Rutland Press http://www.rias.org.uk
