Glencoe Village (formerly Carnoch) An unpretentious backwater off the A82 beneath the Pap of Glencoe, something of the village's late 18th-century character lingers in the few traditional cottages with battered walls and steeply pitched roofs (formerly thatched) that languish amid later infill.

Glencoe. The legendary birthplace of Ossian and Scotland at its most sublime - a landscape forged from collapsed volcanoes scoured by ice and haunted by the tragedy of the Glencoe Massacre. At its western end, the fertile strath of the River Coe has long had scattered settlements.
