Kintore Arms Hotel, 83 High Street, 1854, William Ramage. A long, lean surprise, set back to waylay the trade, its two storeys and attic stretch to seven windows and sit on rising ground. Harled with granite margins and a line of wary, canted dormers. The glazing is original apart from the c.1920 bays. The central Doric porch is topped by a magnificent achievement, the Kintore arms with spear-carrying supporters, fresh from Harlaw. It was equipped for the new Railway Age with hot and cold water, shower baths and a library.
