Bourtie House, 1754, extended 1884, 2002. Composed yet refined, it must have turned many Aberdeenshire lairds' heads when first erected by Patrick Anderson and Elizabeth Ogilvie (the PA and EO in the pediment). On south front texture (pinned, rough ashlar with cherry-cocking) and form (three storeys - with laigh ground floor - five windows, projecting pedimented centre bay) meet in almost perfect union. The interior is remarkably unaltered, with fine panelling in the drawing and dining rooms; house extended tactfully to H-plan in 1884.

Taken from "Aberdeenshire: Donside and Strathbogie - An Illustrated Architectural Guide", by Ian Shepherd, 2006. Published by the Rutland Press http://www.rias.org.uk
