Sundial Cottage sits amongst a row of houses on the north side of Main Street in Swinton, towards the north-east end of the village.

Dated 1826, the cottage stands two storeys high. It is fronted with squared blocks of sandstone rubble and roofed with slate. Its chimney-stacks are of brick.

Sundial Cottage gets its name from the sundial which is set into the wall of the building at first-floor level.
