No 23 The Green is a single-storeyed cottage with an attic which dates from the late eighteenth century. It has a two-storeyed wing of later date at the rear.

The cottage is plain in appearance, with a steeply-pitched slated roof and brick chimney-stacks. The front of the house has been harled and painted.

The later wing is rather more elaborate in appearance. It features a crowstepped dormer, and has two carved sandstone finials, one of which is shaped like an urn. These decorative features may date from the time when the cottage was occupied by a stonemason, a Mr Swine.
