The drinking fountain in The Square, Tomintoul, dates from 1915, and was gifted to the town by a former resident, Robert Grant.

It is made of cast iron, and is square on plan, with spouts on each face. Surmounting the structure is a female figure holding an urn, carved from stone and painted. Two cast-iron stools - bearing the inscription 'Step up bairns' - stand nearby and may once have been placed beneath the basins of the fountain.
