The manse at Tomintoul provided accommodation for the minister of the adjacent Parliamentary church, and, like the church itself, was completed in 1826.

It was built to a design by Thomas Telford, who was commissioned to provide designs for the churches and manses built as result of the 1824 Act for Building Additional Places of Worship in Scotland.

The manse is laid out on a U-plan, comprising a main block flanked by projecting wings. The bay windows on either side of the door are later additions.
