NS 7215 7680 Works were monitored between 2 July–17 September 2007. The work involved the stripping of c200mm of material from an area up to 64m E–W x 12m N–S on the S side of the canal basin. The material removed was modern as proved by the presence of a geotextile membrane below it and a mobile phone within it. This material undoubtedly dated from the 2004 regeneration works. The only feature of any archaeological

interest was a circular, waterfilled, and possibly stone-lined void that was discovered at the W edge of the development.
