NT 1820 7350 In September 2001 an archaeological desk-based assessment was undertaken on a site where a complex of farm buildings and a substantial house (Grade C listed; NMRS NT17SE 72) had been built in the mid- to late 18th century. Prior to that time, and perhaps as early as the 16th century, the site had been occupied by fields associated with one or more neighbouring farms. The site history prior to the 16th century remains unknown and, despite its situation in a landscape rich in archaeological remains of most periods from prehistory, no specific archaeological sites or finds could be associated with it.
