In 1988 Charles Jencks and Maggie Keswick created the Garden of Cosmic Speculation in the grounds of Portrack House. It is divided into five areas, each exploring the structure of the universe using the changing and curving forms of nature. The principal features of the garden are two earthworks: the 'snail mound' and the 'snake mound'.
