SCAPE officers and volunteers undertook ten days of survey covering the majority of the identified vulnerable soft coast of Stronsay. In advance of the walkover survey, desk-based analysis of models of national coastal susceptibility and national coastal change was undertaken to understand the vulnerability of the coastline and target areas for the survey. The Stronsay Coastal Zone Assessment Survey achieved comprehensive coverage of almost all stretches of coastline modelled to be vulnerable to erosion and/or eroding by 2030 on the main island of Stronsay. One hundred and forty-six archaeological and built heritage sites were visited and documented during the survey.
