Nothing is now visible of a quarry that is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Aberdeenshire, 1873, sheet xxxv) in a cultivated field about 180m SE of Rashieslack farmsteading (NJ63SW 129). It evidently went out of use before the end of the 19th century, and is annotated 'Old Quarry' on the 2nd edition of the map (1901, sheet xxxv.NW).
NJ 62750 34790 Nothing visible during walkover survey.
NJ 62760 34797 Visited during walk over survey. No obvious defined quarry but the area avoided by the plough is clearly disturbed, with large concentrations of fractured slate-like rock. Clear excavation at N end. Area also likely been refilled by modern debris.
