ARCHITECT: James Salmon Jnr, 1899-1902 (see HES listed building description)
1905-11: Gardner & Millar architects had their offices at 144 St Vincent Street (according to Post Office Directories available online via National Library of Scotland). 1911-12 Post Office Directory lists Alexander McInnes Gardner (one of the partners in Gardner & Millar) continuing to operate from the address. Gardner & Millar practice stops operating c.1911/12 (according to Dictionary of Scottish Architects information), though Gardner forms partnerships with other architects after this date (see Dictionary of Scottish Architects entry).
1905-12: 'An Old Oak Tea Room' is listed in the Post Office Directories at 142A St Vincent Street from 1905. This is probably the 'Tea Room' by Gardner & Millar noted in the previous Architecture Notes entry (Event ID 779486) -Gardner & Millar probably drew up the plans for the tea room when they moved into the building, as there is an entry for 'Tea House, 144 St Vincent Street' noted as designed by Gardner & Millar practice in the Dictionary of Scottish Architects database. The Tea Room may have continued to occupy 142A St Vincent Street beyond 1912, but no Post Office Directories are available online beyond this date to check when it stopped operating here.
The reference to 'F Burnet & Boston' as architects does not relate to this building, but to the adjacent building at 140-142 St Vincent Street (see Canmore ID 141404).
