Archaeological mitigation was undertaken for trial-pit and borehole inspection pits excavated during the advanced ground investigation (GI) works for the A9 Dualling Tay Crossing to Ballinluig. A visual inspection of the locations and access routes to all GI test-pits and borehole inspection pits was undertaken prior to the GI work commencing to identify any potential impacts on cultural heritage assets. No impacts on cultural heritage assets were identified. One trial-pit close to a walled bank at Warren Lodge and six borehole starter pits, two of which were on the alignment of Wade's Military Road, were identified for and subject to, archaeological monitoring. A small trench excavated to facilitate access at Warren Lodge which crossed the route of a field bank was also monitored. Monitoring of two borehole starter pits (TBB2065 and TBB2067) identified gravels and rounded cobbles, which may be related to Wade's Military Road. However, given the limited area exposed it was not possible to determine if these relate to the Wade era road or later road surfaces. No evidence of the field bank was identified in the small trench at Warren Lodge.
