The second group of dwellings (Figs. 245, 246, Pl. 116B)stands about 100 m SE of the ore- and charcoal-sheds, and comprises a row of single-storeyed cottages. Each cottage formerly contained a single living-room with aloft above, reached by means of a steep timber staircase opening off a small entrance-lobby (Pl. 116c). The general character of the building is similar to that of the first group of dwellings, but the cottages are probably somewhat older, and may have been erected at the establishment of the foundry.
