Following a request to review this site for listing an assessment was carried out which found that the building does not meet the criteria of special architectural or historic interest. The decision was taken not to list the building.
Stretch of railings measuring approximately 22 metres in length and likely dating to the later 20th century. They appear to be of hollow steel construction and are uniform in design. There are two electricity boxes/kiosks set into the railings. They are located in the southeast corner of the Bruntsfield Links and form part of the boundary of the wider public park, at the junction between Warrender Park Terrace and Marchmont Road, aligned west to east.
The site has some social historical interest due to its association with the prominent Scottish professional street trials cyclist, Danny MacAskill, who released a video in 2009 featuring him performing bicycle stunts at a number of sites around the city, beginning with the railings at Warrender Park Terrace (YouTube, 2009). The five-minute video gained worldwide media attention and, having been watched by millions, it raised the profile of this street culture and launched MacAskill’s career.
