In May 1970 workmen digging foundations for council houses encountered a kitchen-midden deposit of shells, animal bones and burnt stones, beneath blown sand at HY 4367 4870. An oval beach stone with a hollow about the size of a foot and four inches deep was found on this occasion; A similar midden is said to have been found during foundation-digging on a new house site in 1969 at HY 4353 4847.

RCAHMS 1983, visited June 1970.
