This settlement is roughly oval on plan and measures 53.2m from NNE to SSW by 23.7m transversely internally. Only at the NNE end, however, does the enclosing stony bank survive and measures 5.4m in thickness and 1.2m in height. Elsewhere it has been reduced by ploughing to little more than low scarps. There is a possible entrance on the E.

Situated on an E-facing slope about 220m E of the fort NY09NE 2, there are the remains of a scooped settlement. Roughly oval on plan, it measures about 52m from N to S by 28.5m transversely within a grass-grown bank (up to 5.3m thick and 0.8m high) with a shallow external ditch which is now only visible on the NNW.
The S half of the settlement, however, has been almost totally levelled by ploughing, and the line of the bank is preserved only on the S and SW where a low inward-facing scarp is preserved. The N half of the interior is set on two levels, with the lower (E) portion being noticeably more poorly drained than the upper.
Visited by RCAHMS (JRS), 13 March 1991.
Listed as settlement.
