In 1850 the remains of a structure, said to have been a chapel dedicated to St Machar, were removed; it measured 4m by 2.7m within walls 'of rubble work' surviving to a height of up to about 1.5m. Its site lies 300m SE of Whitehill, within a fenced enclosure.
