Roman Road, Bentpath to Raeburnfoot
There is no visible trace of the Roman road which is presumed to have linked the fort at Netherby (NY 396 716) with Raeburnfoot fort (NY29NE 5); it probably entered the area of survey at NY c. 315 900 and followed the River Esk as far as its junction with the Meggat Water (NY 297 911) whence it may have been carried NNW over Westerker Rig and Shiel Moss.
