Record revision in support of Designations work is undertaken by staff in the HES Designations team. Location, classification and period are reviewed and updated as appropriate. Sources consulted include relevant Scheduled Monument documentation, Field Officer reports, historic maps, aerial photographs and related mapping, Airborne Laser Scanning (Lidar), publications and relevant documentary material. Field visits may also be undertaken.

The stone stands to around 2.3m in height and measures 0.6m by 1m at its base. An Ordnance Survey benchmark is located near the base on the west face. 1148664	RECORDING	FIELD VISIT	The monument comprises an elongated, grass-covered mound measuring 33m by 17m by approximately 2m high likely to be the remains of a prehistoric burial cairn. A later shieling hut sits atop the mound and a second, similar hut is located to the immediate southeast.
