NN 72168 01244 A historic building recording (basic) was undertaken, from April–September 2021, of the Bridge of Teith, a Category A Listed Building (LB24668), prior to proposed works to the bridge.

The bridge comprises a stone road bridge, with two plain, semi- circular arches, parallel parapets, and triangular cutwaters on both sides of the central pier. Three inscribed decorative panels are located on the interior of the parapets, two on the eastern parapet and one on the western parapet. Two main phases of construction were noted: it is likely the first phase of the bridge dates to the 16th century, and the patronage of Robert Spittal, and the second phase relates to the 19th-century widening of the bridge. The addition of the wing wall also likely dates to the 19th century, with further additions including the training walls, as well as modern repairs. Archive: NRHE and Stirling SMR
