HU 39 10 An assemblage of 22 post-medieval coins from Scotland, the Netherlands, France, Sweden and Germany. All coins are copper alloy of varying condition, with the exception of one which is a white metal, possible very low grade silver. The assemblage of coins sits comfortably within the chronology for the late sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The variation in mint origin is as expected, with the majority of the coins coming from Scottish and Dutch mints. Such a high concentration of coins contributes to the picture of this site as a trading point.

Claimed as Treasure Trove (TT 69/18) and allocated to Shetland Museum and Archives Ella Paul – Treasure Trove Unit (Source: DES Vol 20)
