The Commission has been working in partnership with the Cairngorms National Park Authority on a pilot project (to March 2012) that explored ways in which members of the local community in the Aviemore area could record aspects of their archaeological, architectural and industrial heritage. Commission staff gave lectures, led guided architectural tours of Aviemore and Kingussie, and provided a series of archaeological training workshops in which participants were shown how to identify monuments in the landscape, how to record, survey and map them, and how to find out more from other sources.
