On 29th September 2020, artist TrenchOne painted a mural of Frederick Douglass on the east facing wall of a single storey building, on the corner of Gilmore and Lower Gilmore Place, Edinburgh. TrenchOne posted the following on their Twitter account, 'An honour to paint this portrait of Frederick Douglass who used to live on #Gilmoreplace #Edinburgh . Thanks to all the local residents and their feedback. It’s clear more education is required around his role in the abolition of Slavery. #streetart #BlackLivesMatter'. Visited by HES (AGCH) 5 October 2020.
