Standing Stone, near Durie House.

One the north side of Durie House the ground rises in a steady incline towards the farm-house of Balgrummo, and about midway, at an elevation of slightly over 200 feet above sea-level and about 500 yards south-east of Balgrummo farm-house. is a standing stone, set up with its major axis north-north-west and south-southeast. It is a slab of red sandstone, which rises to a height of 4 feet 5 inches above ground, tapers in thickness from 10 ½ inches at base to 4 inches at the slightly rounded top and shows a variation in girth of from 5i feet at base to 4 feet at top. It is unsculptured and shows no apparent evidence of having been packed at the base.

RCAHMS 1933, visited 18 August 1925.
