163. The House of the Knights Templar.
The Knights Templar once owned much territory both inside and outside the burgh, but disappeared on the dissolution of their Order in 1309. Nothing is known of the situation of their House beyond the evidence recorded by Arnot (1), which would place it on Dalkeith Road, opposite the top of the later East Preston Street.
