Situated on a low ridge about 170m S of Hill Cottage, there is a tree-covered mound which superficially looks like a very large barrow. On closer inspection, however, it can be seen that the base of the mound, which measures about 30m in diameter and 4m in height, is natural. It has been capped by a cairn measuring about 12m in diameter, and the flat top has given rise to its alleged use as 'telegraph' (NSA). Visited by RCAHMS (JRS) 3 April 1989.
