Tillicoultry Parish Church was built 190 years ago and renamed St Serf’s Parish Church in 1929, when the United Presbyterian Church, of which the West Church (NS99NW 20) was a part, was merged with the Church of Scotland. With two Church of Scotland congregations in the town, neither was to be recognised as the "town church". When the congregations of St Serf’s and the West Church were unified in the 1980s, St Serf's became the parish church, resuming its former title of Tillicoultry Parish Church.
