62. Fort, Tower Farm (West Fort).

This fort (fig. 28 [DP 225402]) lies on a rocky knoll, partly quarried on the west, some 500 yards south-west of Tower Farm, ¼ mile west of No. 61 [NT76NE 8] and at an elevation of some 480 feet above sea-level. It has been a small irregular oval measuring interiorly some 120 feet by 100 feet, surrounded by a single stony rampart supplemented by a short outer mound to the west where the ground is more level. The entrance has been from the. east along the edge of the steep bank, flanked on the north by a projection of the rampart. On the slope of the bank below the entrance lies a terrace.
