AOC Archaeology Group was commissioned by Crosslane Student Development Ltd to undertake an historic building survey of No 63 Calton Road, Edinburgh, prior to its demolition for new development on the site. It is probable that this building, constructed between 1836 - 1852, was once part of an extension to the late 18th century brewery, possibly as a store with two wide entrances to the east and west allowing the delivery and removal of goods, with the small windows providing adequate ventilation to the interior space. It is clear that the building has also undergone much transformation since its abandonment, with a new concrete superstructure supporting the roof and a smooth concrete floor, with additional brick blockings to previous openings.

Information from Diana Sproat (AOC Archaeology Group) January 2018.
