At 399 High Street is one of the oldest licensed premises in Kirkcaldy. Built around 1770, it was once called 'The Focsle', and would be typical of many such public houses that crowded around the port area.

Information from ‘Historic Kirkcaldy: The Archaeological Implications of Development’ (1995).
