NT 23980 67237 18th century cottage, listed as being ‘restored by J Wilson Paterson for Edinburgh Corporation 1959-62’. The owner states that the roof was last thatched approximately eight years ago using a Tay reed. The thatch remains in a good condition, as does the concrete ridge, with only a small patch of mossy vegetation growth near the top of the thatch visible on the front elevation. The thatch is netted below the ridge only, for about a foot in width. The rest of the thatch is left uncovered. Part of a group of thatched cottages of the same period (see surveys 059-060 & 063-064).
