The archaeological survey of a small number of sites on the remote SE side of Eaval, North Uist, was undertaken by HES in April 2016. The survey was requested by members of the local community (in particular David Newman) and their assistance in providing transport and accommodation was fundamental to its success. A total of 11 sites were visited and recorded, while measured survey was undertaken at the multi-period site at Beinn na h-Aire (350562) and the possible hut circle W of Loch a' Gheadais (350551). The fieldwork was undertaken by Dr Alex Hale, Adam Welfare and George Geddes. Pencil drawings and derived versions, DGPS data (GV006081) and 40 digital images were archived in 2016.

1010861	RECORDING	FIELD VISIT	Four rectangular turf and stone huts, together with a stack stand, are situated on a low rise between areas of heather-grown, formerly cultivated land 100m N of the shore of Bagh Moraig. The northern hut is set into the ground and measures 3.7m from NNW to SSE by 1.8m transversely within stone-lined walls 1m thick and 0.4m high internally. There is an entrance in the WNW corner. A second hut 10m to the SW is largely composed of turf and measures 3.2m from NE to SW by 2.2m within walls 1m thick and 0.3m high. There is possibly an entrance in the SE wall. A circular dished stone stack stand immediately to its SE measures 2.2m in diameter. A hole at its centre measures 0.4m in diameter and 0.3m deep. A third hut, situated 14m SE of the second, measures 4.5m from NW to SE by 1.5 internally within walls 1m thick and 0.3m high. It is entered from the NE. A fourth hut, situated 12m ESE, measures internally 4m from NE to SW by 1.5m transversely. It is entered from the SE. [...]	22 April 2016
1010864	RECORDING	FIELD VISIT	A small, square, drystone hut is situated at the foot of the NE face of a steep rocky knoll that has on its summit a fort, two souterrains and other smaller structures (NF95NW 27). It measures 1.7m from NE to SW by 1.2m transversely within walls 0.5 thick and up to 0.9m high. There is an entrance on the SE. A second less well-preserved drystone hut has been set against the cliff face immediately to the SW. It measures 1.6m square within a wall 0.5m thick and up to 0.6m high. The entrance is in the E corner. To the NW there are two sub-rectangular pens also set against the cliff. Both measure about 2.7m from WNW to ESE by 1.5m transversely within rough drystone walls 0.6m thick and 0.3m high. [...]	21 April 2016
