On Dun I, 5.0m to the north of the cairn at its summit, are the turf clad footings of a small sub-rectangular structure. The structure is 2.0m by 3.5m, has wall footings 0.4m wide and up to 0.3m high and is orientated approximately north-south. The purpose of the structure could not be identified although it may represent the footings for a small building.

The structure may be associated with either the RAF signal unit based on Dun I during World War II or the initial use of the triangulation point by the Ordnance Survey.
