Built against the foot of a massive boulder, on the back of the shore and on the shore side of the coastal path, is a square built base. This base is now in poor condition but was originally constructed of local stone and lime mortar. It measures 1. 7m by 1.35m and stands 0.4m high.

There is some evidence for quarrying in the area around the base, this may be connected with the construction of the nearby railway.
