Dilapidated and ruinous. Roofless, with S wall gone, E and N wall upstanding to 3m high, and W wall standing to full height. Stone trough and iron tools inside structure. The remains of the Smithy are located in front of the first row of cottages at Milton/Redcastle. The Smithy's workshop is no longer there and is now a garden. The S wall gone, E and N wall are upstanding to 1m high. The W wall has been integrated with a shed attached at the end. The stone trough has been moved. There is only one iron object left, it looks like a mould for a horse shoe lying on top of the wall.

The white cottage behind the site of the Smithy's workshop is where I was told by a local resident of 50 years that her house was in fact the Smithy's house. This white cottage has two portholes in the gable end of which light comes into her bedroom.
