Highland Eco-Design Ltd commissioned Alder Archaeology to undertake a rapid archaeological desk-based assessment and walkover survey on the site of a proposed hydro scheme on the Tullypowrie Burn, Strathtay. The site is located on the edge of the Pitnacree Estate at NN 917 537, around 4km southwest of Pitlochry. The walkover (Alder Archaeology site code AF13) was undertaken by two archaeologists on 26 February 2015. There is a Scheduled Ancient Monument of the church, cross-slab, farmstead and mill of Tullypowrie Burn adjacent to the intake. Associated with it is a former mill lade. Another mill lade and a stone bank will be crossed by the proposed pipeline.
