Scope and Content Fort and temporary camp at Inverquharity, Angus This Roman fort and temporary camps are at Inverquharity. The fort is built at the higher, NW, end of a plateau at the mouth of Glen Clova, to the W of the confluence of the Prosen Water and the River South Esk. The camp lies to the E of the fort itself. This is an aerial view of the site. Though nothing of the fort remains at ground level, its layout can still be seen as a series of crop-marks in the centre of the image. The fort has the typical shape of a rectangle with rounded corners. The site has been partially excavated, but no datable finds were recovered. There appears to have been only one, short period of occupation, possibly in the 1st century. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
