Scope and Content Site of Killunaig Church and burial ground, Coll, Argyll and Bute The graveyard at Killunaig lies on the northern coast of the island of Coll in the Inner Hebrides and is the traditional burial ground of the Maclean Chieftains of Coll. The ruins of a medieval church lie within the walls of the graveyard. The site is variously known as Kilynaig, Cill Ionnaigh or Kilfinnaig. This shows the Killunaig graveyard (centre). There is no evidence to indicate that the associated burial-ground was originally enclosed and the existing stone boundary-wall dates from the later 19th century. The top part of the cemetery is enclosed by an iron fence. The building probably dates to the later Middle Ages and may possibly be the site of the late medieval church of St Fynnoga or Findoca of Col which is first recorded in 1433. Little is known of its history, and the date at which it was abandoned for worship prior to the 18th century is not known. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
