Scope and Content New Grange Foundry, Links Road, Bo'ness, Falkirk This shows the rear of the blacksmiths' and engineering shop on the right, with other old buildings on the south side of the complex. The modern block in the distance is the heavy moulding shop. The pantile-roofed buildings may be part of the 1856 foundry. This foundry is still in operation in 2003, and took over the goodwill of the Dock Foundry when it closed in the 1980s. Ballantynes are now the largest makers of ornamental castings in Scotland. This foundry was established in 1856 as a general foundry, making, among other objects, architectural ironwork. It 1971 it was owned by A Ballantyne & Sons Ltd, and still made architectural ironwork, and also engineering castings, using a range of moulding techniques. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
