Scope and Content New Grange Foundry, Links Road, Bo'ness, Falkirk This shows the rear of part of the offices from the south-east, with the pattern shop at the far end of the range. Part of the light moulding shops can be seen in the distance. The chimney probably dates from the time when the foundry was steam-driven. This foundry is still in operation in 2003, and took over the goodwill of the Dock Foundry when it closed in the 1980s. Ballantynes are now the largest makers of ornamental castings in Scotland. This foundry was established in 1856 as a general foundry, making, among other objects, architectural ironwork. It 1971 it was owned by A Ballantyne & Sons Ltd, and still made architectural ironwork, and also engineering castings, using a range of moulding techniques. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
