Scope and Content Wall decoration of drawing room, Keithick House, Perth & Kinross This shows part of a painted wall panel in the drawing room which has an Adam Revival decorative scheme by Morant. Two winged mythological creatures have intertwined tails which support a crescent with swag decoration and animal-headed pinnacles. Swags extend from the central animal heads and lead to further decoration. A gilded surround encloses the panel. The drawing room was one of the main entertaining rooms which were located on the ground floor. The décor of this room was designed to create a feeling of comfort and also to show the status and distinguished cultural tastes of the family. The ladies would retire to this room after dinner and drink tea or coffee prepared by the housekeeper. Keithick House was designed by David Whyte and built for W E Collinswood between 1818 and 1823. David Bryce (1803-76) changed the porch and offices in 1839, and Maclaren, Soutar & Salmond made further alterations in 1926. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
