Scope and Content Estate Cottages, Nos 624-44 Crow Road, Glasgow This shows the Crow Road frontage of the development from the south-west. There are two main ranges in this view, and behind these there are shorter rows and detached cottages. Though modest in scale, these dwellings were markedly superior to many workers' cottages of the period. These buildings had, by 1966, been sold to their occupants, and because of that they are still inhabited in 2002, though most have been so much altered that the original design is totally obscured. This group of single-storeyed red and white brick cottages was built in about 1885 to house workers on the Scotstoun estate. Though not linked to any specific industry, most of the occupants were presumably craftsmen. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
