Scope and Content Aerial view of Dens Park, Tannadice Street, Dundee Dundee Football Club was formed in 1893 when two of the city's top club's, Our Boys and East End, amalgamated. The Club moved to its Dens Park home in 1898/9, and in 1919-21 the ground was rebuilt to designs by Archibald Leitch (1866-1939). Various alterations were carried out in the 1950s and 1960s, including installation of floodlights, and in 1975, bench seating was installed. This aerial view from the south shows Dens Park in 1998. The original layout of Leitch's design is still visible, being a large 'bowl' with a running track around the pitch. Originally open on three sides, with terracing for standing spectators, it has now been enclosed following legislation requiring major stadiums to be all-seater. It now seats 12,085. More recent work on Dens Park includes the Bobby Cox and Bob Shankly stands which were officially opened in August 1999. The Bobby Cox Stand has a capacity of 3,046, the Bob Shankly stand, 3,046 and the Main Stand 3,440. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
