Scope and Content Aerial view of Dens Park and Tannadice Park, Tannadice Street, Dundee In 1909, the Irish community in Dundee formed a new football club, Dundee Hibernian, following the demise of Dundee Harp three years earlier. Renamed Dundee United Football Club in 1923, the Club was based at Clepington Park, now Tannadice Park. City rivals Dundee Football Club was formed in 1893 as a result of an amalgamation of Our Boys and East End. Dundee FC moved to Dens Park in 1898/9. This aerial view from the south-east shows Tannadice Park, Dundee United FC's ground in the foreground to the right, and, above left, Dens Park, the home ground of Dundee FC. The housing scheme to the right (north) of Dens Park is Fleming Gardens while there is a foundry to the east, previously T C Keay's, now units, including offices and studios of the local radio station, Radio Tay. The factory to the south was previously Bowbridge Works. Dens Road Primary School is in the bottom left-hand corner. 1915 saw the first ever derby game between Dundee FC and Dundee United FC, when a friendly match at Dens Park heralded the inaugural meeting of the two city sides at first-team level. Only 4,000 saw Dundee confirm their superior status of the time by winning 4-0. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
