Scope and Content Farmhouse, Sibster Mains Farm, Highland, from east Sibster Mains Farm has a large steading arranged around a square courtyard, dating variously from the late 18th century to the mid- to late 19th century and into the 20th century. It is thus a fine example of agricultural development through three centuries and is particularly notable for its 18th-century kiln barn. This shows the farmhouse from the east with a lawn in front sheltered by a high wall to the north. The house is two-storeyed with crowstepped gables and dormers, with irregularly-spaced and shaped windows. The walls are harled and the roof is slated. Sibster Mains lies 4km west of the fishing port of Wick, which has a number of interesting architectural features including a lifeboat house built in 1915 and replacing one built in 1848, the earliest of its kind in Scotland.
