Scope and Content Boot room from east, Celtic Park Stadium (Parkhead), No 95 Kerrydale Street, Glasgow On 6 November 1887, Celtic Football Club was formally constituted to alleviate poverty in Glasgow's East End parishes. Their first playing ground was at Springfield Road about 200m from the present site which they came to in 1892. Redevelopment work carried out by Percy Johnson-Marshall & Partners during the mid-1990s has brought the capacity to over 60,000. This is the boot room, seen from the east, showing a predominance of green, including the linoleum on the floor, as befits the Club colours of green and white stripes or hoops. The choice of green is connected to the Irish Catholic origins of the team. After Celtic's triumph in the European Cup in 1967 the Club borrowed the more up-to-date design of Hampden Park's newly-covered West End, and for £300,000 built an almost exact replica over their East Terrace, thus providing cover on all four sides of the pitch.
