Scope and Content West Stand, Ibrox Stadium, Nos 100-70 Edmiston Drive, Glasgow, from east Glasgow Rangers Football Club started in 1872 with two brothers, Peter and Moses McNeil, and two friends, Peter Campbell and William McBeath. who called the Club 'Argyle'. The Club moved to Ibrox in 1887 and the Main Stand, a listed building, dates from 1928. This shows the West Stand viewed from the east, with the Main Stand to the left, and North Stand to the right. The box-like structure on top of the Main Stand is the old press office, which has since been replaced during extensive refurbishments at the stadium. The Main Stand has two tiers and is steel-framed with a corrugated roof and a shield facing the pitch. The three newer stands were built in the 1980s following a collapse in the west terracing when 26 people were killed. The name 'Ibrox' comes from old Scots and means 'crossing of the badgers'.
